PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT)
The Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating sets you apart from other dive instructors by showing your commitment to continuing your dive training and being prepared to help others continue their training as well. You get to teach specialty diver courses – which opens the door to lots of fun while working. As a PADI MSDT, you demonstrate to a dive employer that you have good experience in teaching diving and also can teach a range of specialty diver courses. This makes a dive centre or resort more likely to offer you a position. By completing Specialty Instructor Training with Lutwala you will be able to teach these PADI Specialty Courses as soon as your application is processed.
An MSDT is one step up from a regular OWSI, being able to teach at least 5 PADI Specialities to their students. Not only does this broaden an instructor's teaching possibilites, allowing work to remain exciting and varied, it also makes an instructor more employable. Dive centres in many parts of the world will advertise specifically for MSDTs, and may even specify that they require an instructor who can teach PADI Deep Speciality or PADI Photography Speciliaty, for example. If this is something that interests you, Alina is qualified train you in a huge range of instructor level specialities and we can very easily factor this into your time at Lutwala.

PADI Staff Instructor (SI):
An SI is essentially an assistant to a Course Director and can play a huge and critical role in the running of IDCs. In fact, they can train Divemasters through to Assistant Instructor level independently. Again, this adds to an instructor's employability and encourages longevity in a diving career by keeping day to day work varied. Your training as an SI will involve an 'apprenticeship' with Lutwala's Course Director, Alina: you will shadow her through a real IDC, learning how to teach and assess instructor candidates. If you are interested in this aspect of professional training, contact us and we will help organise a training programme for you.
